Who Am I?
Hello! my name is Amber Cogdill. I am currently majoring in Nutrition to receive my Bachelors and I would like to persue the Coordinated BS/MS Program in Nutrition and Dietetics at Rowan University. I am dedicated to growing my passion for Nutrition, as well as improving the wellbeing of others. I am on a journey to combine both, allowing me to change the lives of many.
My whole life has been surrounded by health and wellbeing. With 2 years of soccer, 5 years of tennis, 4 years of dance, and 4 years of cheerleading experience, I have always made it a priority to stay active. While staying active kept me energetic and in great physical shape, that slowly went downhill the older I got.
Coming from a reletively rural area, my school district didn't have any educational requirements for anything nutrition related. Because of this lack of education, I didn't have the knowledge on how to properly fuel my body. After sharing the health concerns I had with my tennis coach, he told me that the most likely reason for my decline in health was due to my nutritional intake.
I realized that I didn't want anyone to feel how I did; I felt as if I was constantly sick. I've always had the thought in the back of my mind that I wanted to go into the field of nutrition, so the health scares that I had are really what finally pushed me in that direction.

Experience and Accomplishments
Down below, are images that offer a glimpse of personal and professional life and how each of them have been beneficial to me!
My Future

My overall goal for my career is to be there for people when they don't have someone to help them with their health. This is something I never had the luxury of, so I want to make sure others have that resource.
I would love to work in a research setting, specifically in Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics. These both study the correlation between food and gentic makeup. Nutrigenetics studies the impact that genetic variations in the body will respond to nutrients. Nurigenomics is a study that explores how the dietary components on an individual can influence their gene funcion and expression. While this is a reletively new concept, I am prepared to do my own research to learn more about the studies being conducted.
